In 2024, a long-distance heavy-load and personnel transport project was undertaken for a thermal coal mine in Australia.
This large-scale Australian thermal coal mine features underground roadways exceeding 10,000 meters in length and requires the simultaneous transport of 50-ton heavy equipment and underground personnel. The system demanded the capability for both heavy-load transport and safe personnel transfer, while strictly complying with Australian coal mine safety standards. Previously adopted transportation methods could not achieve the integrated transport of “materials + personnel,” resulting in cumbersome transfer processes that severely impacted mine production efficiency.
We customized a dual-track parallel explosion-proof monorail system, comprising separate material transport tracks and personnel transport tracks. The material track features a 16-drive traction design with a maximum traction force of 200 kN, enabling the complete transfer of 50-ton heavy equipment. The personnel track is equipped with a dedicated explosion-proof personnel carrier, accommodating 12 people and fitted with safety devices such as seat belts and emergency stop buttons to ensure safe transport. The system utilizes intelligent linkage dispatching to achieve coordinated operation between material and personnel transport, avoiding transportation conflicts. Equipment endurance was optimized with a large-capacity explosion-proof fuel tank, allowing continuous operation for over 24 hours on a single refueling, adapting to long-distance transport requirements. The entire process adhered to Australian coal mine safety standards and successfully passed acceptance by local authoritative institutions.
Since its deployment, the project has achieved integrated “materials + personnel” direct transport. Personnel transport efficiency has increased by 60%, and heavy equipment transport cycles have been shortened by 50%, completely resolving the coordination challenges of traditional transport methods. The equipment operates stably and reliably with a failure rate below 3%, earning high recognition from the mine management. This project has become a core benchmark for our expansion into the Oceania coal mining market, laying a solid foundation for subsequent collaborations.
To date, the monorail system has operated stably for five years without major equipment failures, earning high recognition from the mine management. This project has become a benchmark for our expansion into the Southeast Asian market.
